McCammon, William - Houlka William Tillman Shorty McCammon, 97, died Wednesday, November 19, 2014, at his home in Houlka.
He was born May 5, 1917, in Calhoun County to Thomas Tom McCammon and Pearl Ivy Mooneyham McCammon. He was a life-long farmer and a member of Schooner Valley Baptist Church.
The funeral service will be Friday, November 21, 2014, at 1:30 pm at Schooner Valley Baptist Church in Houlka with Rev. Linn Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at Poplar Springs Cemetery in Vardaman.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Olivia Crawford McCammon of Houlka; his daughter, Sue (Bill) Morphis of Houlka; his sons, Wayne McCammon of Houlka, Bill (Pam) McCammon of Pittsboro, Jerry (Carolyn) McCammon of Pittsboro, Roy McCammon of Pontotoc; his step-children, Rita(Pete) Tackett of Okolona, Tina Keith of Pontotoc, Buddy (Judy) Schwalenberg of Houston, Jimmy (Margaret) Schwalenberg of Pontotoc, Lisa (John) Turley of Pontotoc; his 22 grandchildren; his 22 great-grandchildren; and his 24 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Vattie C. McCammon; his son, Herman Lee McCammon; his 3 brothers; and his 2 sisters.
Pallbearers are Jacob Jake Wilson, Stanley Paul Wally Wilson, Christopher Shane Thomas, Joey McCammon, Jamie McCammon, Tracy McCammon, Justin Lynn Wilson, and Randall M. Wilson, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Stacy McCammon and Jessie McCammon.
Visitation is Thursday, November 20, 2014, beginning at 4:00 pm at Schooner Valley Baptist Church.
