Paden, Walter - Houlka- Walter Stewart Paden, 70, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017, The Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, Mississippi. Mr. Paden was born on February 20, 1947 in Chickasaw County, MS to Joe Hugh Peden and Grace Ruthell Austin. Walter graduated from Houlka High School in 1964 and continued to live in Houlka all his life. He was a salesman for Davis Furniture for many years, which allowed him to travel all over the United States and eat delicious food, two of his favorite things. His passions were bird hunting with his brother and sons and raising quarter horses. He also was an avid reader. He loved his children more than anything and everybody knew it. His sense of humor and infectious laugh kept people entertained and he never met a stranger. He was a great treasure on this earth and will be missed by many.
Funeral Service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Houlka First Baptist Church in Houlka, Mississippi with Rev. David Blackwell and his friend, Johnny McClendon officiating.
Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Houlka, Mississippi.
Houston Funeral Home will oversee the arrangements.
Survivors include his daughter, Courtney (Hildon) Sessums of Oxford, Mississippi., sons, Mike (Camilla) Paden of Tupelo, Mississippi., Josh Paden of Houlka, Mississippi., his sister, Thelma Ann (Travis) Davis of Houlka, Mississippi., brother, Raymond (Kathy) Paden of Houlka, Mississippi., grandchildren, Cathy Jo (Joel) Gray, Michael Anthony Paden Jr., Hayes Paden, and Reagan Claire Sessums, and great-grandchildren, Jude Gray, Ava Gray, McClara Paden, and Serenity Paden and the mother of his children, Martha Jo Owen and Jan Paden.
Walter Paden is preceded in death by his mother and father, Grace Austin Peden and Joe Hugh Peden, brothers, Hugh Stanley Paden, Robert Earl Peden, sisters, Josephine Higginbotham and Wilma Lane Davis.
Pallbearers will be Hunter Davis, Tyler Davis, Robbie Peden, Jacob Washington, Jess Davis, and Junior Warren.
Honarary Pallbearers will be Johnny McClendon, Darelle Henry and Bob Chrestman.
Visitation will be Monday, July 31, 2017 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Houlka First Baptist Church in Houlka, Mississippi.
