Martin, Thomas E. - Sparta Thomas Eugene Fessor Martin, 87, died Saturday, August 17, 2013, at NMMC Hospice in Tupelo.
He was born December 18, 1925, in Chickasaw County to Eugene Verell Martin and Velma Lavone Weaver Martin.
He was a retired fitter for B&W and a member of Amity Baptist Church, an Army Veteran, and a Justice of the Peace for 12 years in Chickasaw County.
Services are Monday, August 19, 2013, at 11:00 AM at Houston Funeral Home in Houston with Rev. Scott Griffin and Rev. Carl Morris officiating. Burial will follow at Prospect Cemetery in Houston. Houston Funeral Home of Houston is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Jettie Inez Miller Martin of Sparta, his daughter, Ann and Ralph Coggins of West Point; his sons, John T. and Kay Martin of Houston, Billy Ray and Doretta Martin of Starkville; his sisters, Martha and James Cozart of Southaven, Jo Ellen and Ray Free of Sparta, Helen and Gene Johnson of Houston, Judy and James Washington of Houston; his grandchildren, Nicole and Tommy Gill, Cara Martin, Austen Martin, Brandy and David Byars, Kelly Martin, Eric Martin, Marty and Angie Coggins, Paul and Pat Coggins, Kathy and Joe Williams; his 16 great grandchildren, and his 5 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Mary Emma Myers, Bonnie Mae Whitworth, and his brothers, Wayne E. Bo Martin.
Pallbearers are Mike Free, Ronnie Free, Toby Johnson, Wayne Boo Martin, Tommie Gill, Kenneth Ricks.
Honorary pallbearers are B & W Boiler Makers, David Carter, Kenny Scott.
Visitation is Sunday, August 18, 2013 at Houston Funeral Home from 5:00 until 7:00 PM.
