Shirley Ann Kendall, age 84, passed away Monday, October 24, 2022 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS. She was born Shirley Ann Wilkens on May 14, 1938 to El Mervin Wilkins and Annie House Wilkens.

She was a retired surgical nurse after working more than 50 years as "one of Dr. Dyer's girls" at Houston Hospital and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, October 27, 2022 at Bethel Baptist Church at 2:00 P.M. with Dr. Randy Rinehart and Rev. Sammy McMillen officiating. Visitation will be 1:00 P.M. until time of service. Burial will be at Chickasaw Memorial Gardens. Houston Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Curtis Cunningham, Jeremy Murphree, Rev. Eddie Bullock, Dustin Pounds, Brandon Allen, and Zack Johns.

Honorary pallbearers will be Neva Edwards, Ruth Alexander, Carolyn Davis and the rest of Dr. Dyer's girls.

Shirley is survived by her daughters, Leisa (Neal) Allen of Houston and Donna (Jimmy) Smith of Houston; 6 grandchildren, Jordan Allen, Brandon Allen, Bethaney (Zack) Johns, Jayme Smith, Jenna Smith, and Jill (Dustin) Pounds; one great-grandchild, Addy Kate Pounds.

She was preceded in death by her husband of many years, James "Jake" Kendall and her parents, El Mervin and Annie Wilkens.
