Obituary

Sarah Heair, age 93, passed from her earthly home Saturday, October 24, 2026. She was born Sarah Baird to Aubry Baird and Ruth Boatman Baird on April 22, 1933, in Eupora, MS. Our beloved mother was a woman of love, faith, strength, and devotion. She gave so much of herself to her family and to those around her, always putting others before herself.

A Funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at 2 PM at Houston Funeral Home with Bro. Tommy Byars and Bro. Jeffrey Heair officiating. A visitation will be held Wednesday beginning at 12 PM until the time of service. Burial will be at Chickasaw Memorial Gardens.

She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn (Sammy) Watson, Donna (Tommy) Byars, Lola (Bradley) Simpson all of Houston, MS; her sons, Larry (Sandy) Heair, John (Kim) Heair, Stephen Heair all of Houston, MS; her sister Martha (Bob) Allen of Slidell, LA; 20 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Elkin Heair, daughter, Barbara Taylor, son, James Heair, daughter in law, Trysha Heair, parents Aubry and Ruth Baird, 4 sisters and 2 brothers.

She was a wonderful cook and took great pride in preparing meals for her family and the public. Her cooking was more than just food—it was one of the ways she showed her love. Her kitchen was a place where family gathered, memories were made, and everyone always knew they were welcome.

She also stood faithfully beside our daddy, traveling back and forth with him to Colorado and supporting him every step of the way. She was his partner, his encourager, and his greatest supporter. Wherever life took him, she was there beside him.

Her faith was an important part of who she was. As the First Lady of the church, she served faithfully alongside our daddy and loved her church family. She was a woman who lived her faith through her actions, her kindness, and the way she cared for others.

To her children, she was simply Mom—the heart of our family. She loved us, cared for us, taught us, and gave us memories that we will carry with us for the rest of our lives. Though our hearts are broken by her passing, we are grateful for every moment we were blessed to have with her.

Her love, her faith, her laughter, her cooking, and the example she set will live on through her children, grandchildren, family, and all those who had the privilege of knowing her.

She will forever be loved, forever be missed, and forever be a part of us.

Until we meet again, Mom. We love you.
