Obituary

Robert E. Harrell, Sr., 78, died on April 19th, 2023, related to complications from advanced Parkinson's Disease, at the Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, MS. He was born May 29th, 1944, in Vicksburg, MS, the son of Hulon Monroe Harrell and Idalie Carolyn Patricia Schultz Harrell.

He attended Clarke Memorial College in Newton, MS, where he met and married Margaret Ann Heair Harrell, on June 26th, 1966. Robert was a faithful member of Gideons International, The Southern Baptist Disaster Relief Team, The United Transportation Union, Mantee Baptist Church in Mantee, MS, Royal Ambassadors for Christ at Marion First Baptist Church and served as a former deacon at Marion First Baptist Church. He retired from the Canadian National Illinois Central Railroad as an Engineer in 2004 after 34 and half years of service.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased in death by his son Robert E. Harrell Jr., brother James Harrell, and sisters Carolyne Clowers and Marilyn Gray.

Surviving loved ones: his wife Margaret Ann Heair Harrell of 56 years, his daughters Allison Cain (Tim) of Benton, AR and Kim Vaughn (Keith) of Mathiston, MS, his grandchildren Sara Cadwell (Johnny) of Martin, TN, Kayla Prater (Randy) of West Memphis, AR, Jayden Harrell (TX), Natalie Cain of Little Rock, AR, Nathan Cain (Megan) of Moore, OK, Shelby Vaughn (fiancé Mason Stevens) of Starkville, MS, Sydney Vaughn of Mathiston, MS, and Sylar Vaughn of Mathiston, MS, his great-grandchildren Presley Hines and John Carter Cadwell of Martin, TN, McKenna Prater, Estelle Prater, and Marshall Max Prater of West Memphis, AR , his loving sisters-in-law Carolyn Orr (Roy) of Flora, MS, Linda Heair of Mathiston, MS, Brenda McVay (David) of Van Vleet, MS, and Amy Prisock (Donnie) of Starkville, MS, along with a host of nieces and nephews.

A visitation is scheduled for 4:00p.m.-5:30p.m on April 23rd, 2023 at Houston Funeral Home in Houston, MS and also on Monday April 24th, 2023 from 12p.m.-1p.m at Mantee Baptist Church in Mantee, MS. The funeral service is scheduled for 1:00p.m. on April 24th, 2023 at Mantee Baptist Church in Mantee, MS. Interment at Houston City Cemetery in Houston, MS. Houston Funeral Home is honored to serve this family.
