Mrs. Nita Hardin Dyer, 85, Mississippi, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at OCH Regional Hospital in Starkville, MS. She was born on October 27, 1932 in Calhoun County, Mississippi to Charles Mitchell Hardin and Mabel Claire Compere. She was married to the late Dr. John D. Dyer for 40 years and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Houston where she served as organist/ pianist. She also was former director of Children's and Youth Choirs and the Former Director of The Handbell Choirs. She was an avid gardener and took great pride in her yard.
The Funeral Service will be Friday, February 9, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. Houston Funeral Home in Houston, Mississippi with Rev. Rex Wilburn officiating.
Burial will follow at Houston City Cemetery in Houston, MS.
Houston Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her daughters, Amelia Leigh Dyer of Grenada, MS., Susan (Joe) Bates of Pheba, MS., her son, Ed (Amanda) Dyer of Atlanta, GA., her brothers, Charles (Sammie) Hardin, Jimmy (Robbie) Hardin, and Mike (Betty) Hardin all of Calhoun City, MS., and her grandchildren, Ashley (A.J.) Kartel, and John Walker Dyer, one great-grandchild, Bella Claire Kartel all of Atlanta, GA., and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Dyer is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Dr. John D. Dyer who died June 9, 1998.
Visitation will be Friday, February 9, 2018 from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at Houston Funeral Home in Houston, Mississippi.
