Minnie Jean Darby

Houston- Mrs. Minnie Jean Thomas Darby Denson, 94, passed away on December 10, 2021, at her daughter's home in Houston, Mississippi. Ms. Darby was born on December 28, 1926, in Houston, Mississippi to Charlie Crayton Thomas and Maggie Jadie Neal Thomas. She was a factory worker at Shannon Chair, and she sold Avon for 50 years. After she retired from Shannon Chair, Ms. Darby sat with several elderly patients for 30 years. She thoroughly enjoyed attending church at Church of Christ in Houston, where she was a member.  She was a doting loving, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be missed tremendously!

Visitation will be on Friday, December 17, 2021, at Houston Funeral Home in Houston from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.

A Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, December 18, 2021, at 11:00 A.M. at Houston Funeral Home in Houston, MS with Bro. Michael McLemore officiating.

Burial will be at Houston City Cemetery in Houston, MS.

Houston Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.

Ms. Darby is survived by her daughter, Linda Darby (John) Ford of Houston; her sons, Curtis Darby of Woodbury, TN, Jimmy Marion of Houston; her sister-in-law, Evelyn Thomas of Chico, California; her grandchildren, Lisa (Jason) Laufenburg of Houston, Keith (Nichole) Trull of Walthall, Jutima (Matt) Fox of Jacksonville, FL, Lucia (Antonio Polonio) Lastres of Saint Domingo, Spain; Jeff (Sue) Darby of Columbus, OH, Laura (Mac) Icee of Abilene, TX, Ronnie (Susie) Darby of Prattsville, AR, Terry (Lorenzo) Posades of Mayflower, AR, Sandra (David) Knighten of Abilene, TX, Robert (Teresa) Darby of Alexander, AR, Scott (Stacy) Darby of Searcy, AR, and Anita Whitten of Purdon, TX; her great-grandchildren, Jadie and Tristen Laufenburg, Zack Trull, Prim and Andie Fox, Lidia and Marina Lastres, Bishop (Madison) Darby, Ashton (Chase) Hampton, Norman Darby, Daniel Darby, and Royal Darby, Darby Icee, Ella Icee, Sara Icee, and Zack Icee, Sam Darby, and Zack Darby, Jennifer (Josh) Railsback, Alex Posades, Madlyn and Josh Darby, Nick and Kyle Gaskill; her great-great grandchildren, Hadley and Harper Gaskill, Hazel Gaskill and Lucy Mae Railsback. She is also survived by her beloved special friends, Marcella Stantz, Rose Lyles, Peggy Young, and Vicki Fant.

Ms. Darby is preceded in death by her parents, her late husbands, Zack Darby and Pete Denson, her brothers, Floyd Thomas, Dick Thomas, James Robert Thomas, Paul Douglas Thomas, Billy Carroll, Thomas; her sisters, Ruth Reid, Maggie Tate Hillhouse, Nancy Elizabeth Gose, Sara Childs, and Mary Evelyn Pate.

Pallbearers will be Frankie O`Barr, Tyke Thomas, Eddie Wiggs, John Lee Lyles, Larry Stantz, Jason Brooks, Eddie Alford, and Jadie Laufenberg and Tristen Laufenburg.

The family wishes to thank the nurses at Southern Care Hospice for the endearing care they provided to Ms. Minnie Jean Denson.
