Mildred Charleen Willis, age 95, passed from her earthly home on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS. She was born Mildred Charleen Lyles on February 12, 1929 to John Henry and Martha Ann Dendy Lyles. She was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church and was a bookkeeper for Dendy Lumber Company for many years.
A Funeral Service will be held, Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at 1 PM at Bethel Baptist Church with Bro Sammy McMillan officiating. Visitation will begin at 12 Pm until time of service at Bethel Church with burial following immediately after the service at Bethel Cemetery. Houston Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Charleen Willis.
Pallbearers will be Rob McKay, Adam Willis, Brandt Willis, Will McKay, Britton McKay, Walker Burdine, Kent Brendle, Brooks Brendle, and Brayden Grove.
Charleen is survived by her daughter, Elaine McKay of Montgomery, AL; her son, Glenn Willis of Houston, MS; her grandchildren, Glenda Burdine of Houston, MS, Adam (Brooke) Willis of Memphis, TN, Clint Pruett (Rebecca) of Houston, MS, Rob (Emily) McKay of Prattville, AL and Wendy (Kent) Brendle of Montogomery, AL; her great-grandchildren, Gray Brendle, Cate Scott Brendle, Brooks Brendle, Will McKay, Britton McKay, Madeline Burdine, Walker Burdine, Brandt Willis, Brayden Grove, Kayla Myatt and Mollie Bean; two great-great-grandchildren, CJ and Zack Lancaster, and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry and Martha Ann Lyles; her husband, James Walker Willis; her daughter in law, Sandra Willis; her son in law, Robert W. McKay, Jr.; brothers, David and Hogan Lyles; and her sisters, Thelma Harrington, Zelda Buskirk, Josie Lyles, Virginia Taylor, and Marianne Dickson.
The family would like to Thank NMMC Inpatient Hospice Unit and Trent Nursing Home and rehab.
