Mr. Michael Ray Free, 61, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2019, at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point, Mississippi. Visitation will be Sunday, March 31, 2019 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., at Houston Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, April 1, 2019 at Houston Funeral Home with Bro. Billy Free and Rev. John Dendy officiating. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery in Woodland, Mississippi. Houston Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He was born August 22, 1957 in Memphis, Tennessee to Elon Ray Free and Jo Ellen Martin Free.

Mr. Free was Chief of Security for Franklin Corporation in Houston for 43 years and a member of Woodland Volunteer Fire Department in Woodland, Mississippi, where he was one of the original members. He was loved by his family and friends, and work associates from Franklin Corporation.

Mr. Free is survived by his wife, Doris Leighton Free of Sparta, MS; his father; Ray Free of Sparta, MS; his daughters, Ashley Leigh (Danny Ray) Schwalenberg of Sparta, MS., and Britney (A.J.) Mann of Starkville, MS; his sons, Thomas (Hannah) Griffin of Houston, MS., and Carl (Michele) Griffin of Sparta, MS; one brother, Steven Martin Free of Sparta, MS; and his grandchildren, Ben Mann, Kaleb Griffin, Landon Griffin, Emma Kate Griffin, Carly Griffin and Collin Ray Schwalenberg.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Jo Ellen Martin Free.
