IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Melissa Jo
Woodruff
November 30, 1958 – November 25, 2023
Melissa Jo Woodruff, age 64, passed away on November 25, 2023 at Baptist hospital in Columbus after a brief illness. She was born Melissa Jo Griffin on November 30, 1958 to James Graydon Griffin and Mable Brown Griffin. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Houston, MS.
Melissa loved playing basketball during her high school years with numerous of her life long friends and many special memories have been shared through the years of that experience.
She loved spending time with family and friends and was always filled with laughter and love. She loved going to church and especially enjoyed her Sunday school class at First Baptist Church. Since the recent loss of her husband, David Woodruff, 4 months ago, she has felt so blessed by the members of her church that have reached out to her with love, prayers, food, visits and calls.
She also had a special place in her heart for her two grandsons, John Thomas and Eli. If you wanted to stir up a good conversation , just ask her about those two.
A Funeral Service to honor and celebrate her life will be held at First Baptist Church in Houston, MS on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be from 12 noon to 2:00 PM also at First Baptist Church. Bro Greg Simmons and Bro Ken Adams will be officiating the service and music will be provided by Tyrell Hollingsworth Davis.
Pallbearers will be Scott Griffin, Landon Griffin, Sean Griffin, Brad Woodruff, Jonathan Woodruff, and Tony McCombs with Mac Smith as an honorary pallbearer.
She is survived by her two brothers, Steve Griffin (Kay) and Grant Griffin (June); her nephews, Scott Griffin, Landon Griffin, and Sean Griffin; a very special niece, Ciara Griffin; her great-nieces Kayleigh Ann Griffin and Kayden Griffin; her father in law, John Robert Woodruff (Sara); her step sons Brad Woodruff (Summer) and Jonathan Woodruff (Jess Mercier) and grandsons, John Thomas and Eli Woodruff and many extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Mike Griffin, and her husband, David Woodruff.
