Mrs. Mary Evelyn "Big Momma" "Nelson" Gillespie Andrews, 91, passed away Friday, February 8, 2019, at FernBrooke Personal Care Home in Houston, Mississippi. Visitation will be Sunday, February 10, 2019, from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M., at Houlka First Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be at 3:00 P.M on Sunday, February 10, 2019 at Houlka First Baptist Church with Rev. Ervin Wright, Rev. Johnny Cherry, Rev. Tim Alexander, Bro. David Blackwell, and Rev. Larry Gordon officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Atlanta, Mississippi. Houston Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Andrews was born March 28, 1927 in Houlka, Mississippi to David Alfonzo Gillespie and Margaret Bell Carter Gillespie. She spent most of her life as a nurse at Trace Regional Hospital- Houston Hospital where she was better known as one of the "Dr. Dyer`s Girls" and her last 9 years was spent as an emergency room nurse at Pontotoc Hospital. When she retired at age 73, she did several mission trips in Honduras until she was 83. When she was not working, she was spending time with her family and taking care of her dogs, and she was a devoted member of Houlka First Baptist Church, and she is currently the oldest member.

Mrs. Andrews is survived by her daughters, Jeannie Winter of Vardaman and Kathy (Greg) Haynes of Houlka; her sons, Larry (Paulette) Nelson of Houston, and David (Margaret) Nelson of Woodland; her grandchildren, Debbie (Al) Gibson, Damon (Tania) Nelson, Fandaci (Andy) Harmon, Wyndi (Jason) Davis, Leisa (Trey) Ellison, Matt (Vonda) Winter, Tara (Jason) Terrell, Britni (Jim) Rutherford, Brenan (Laura) Haynes, and Brock (Joni) Owings; her 25 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews; and her special caretaker, Linda (Larry) Gordon of Houlka.

Mrs. Andrews was preceded in death by her parents, Fonzo and Margaret Gillespie; her husband, Leon Nelson married 1946 and deceased 1973., her husband, Royce Andrews married 1974 and deceased 2002; her sisters, Reta Weaver, Ann Wooten, Ruby Gillespie; brothers, James Gillespie, Billy Wayne Gillespie, and Charles Gillespie.

Pallbearers will be Brock Owings, Brenan Haynes, Matt Winter, Tripp Beasley, Derek Nelson, Jakub Hines, Damon Nelson, Palmer Harmon, and Jason Terrell.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Tanner Beasley, Brennan Gibson, Jason Davis, Andy Harmon, Trey Ellison, Jim Rutherford.
