IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lois Ann
Colbert
August 27, 1931 – January 2, 2025
Lois Ann Colbert, age 93, entered her Heavenly home on Thursday, January 2, 2025. She was born Lois Ann Goddard on August 27, 1931, to Gordon Greene and Lillian Belle Dunlap Goddard in Amory, Mississippi. (Her birth certificate stated August 27, but close family members said she was born on August 26.) Eventually her family moved to White Rock Hill in Chickasaw County where she met her future husband Roger Neal Colbert when she attended Buena Vista School for three days to help keep the school open. Later she and Neal graduated together from Egypt High School. She furthered her education at Miller Hawkins Business School in Memphis. Lois Ann and Neal married in 1950 at Buena Vista Methodist Church where she was a member until her passing. Her business training served her well when she and Neal became Sears Roebuck Catalog Merchants in Houston, Mississippi. She also worked at Machine Products in Prairie and the grain elevator in Houston.
She had a long-term interest in genealogy and was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) for over 40 years where she served as Regent as well as a member of Colonial Dames. She enjoyed working with The Walk to Emmaus, going to Precept Bible Study, serving on the Auxiliary of Gideons, and helping with local church activities. Her greatest pleasure was when her children and grandchildren called or came to put their feet under her table.
Lois Ann was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband of 74 years Roger Neal Colbert, sister Billie Joyce Sullivan, son Anthony Neal "Andy" Colbert (Dr. Lisa B. Stone) of Houston, daughter Emily Colbert Lehr (William) of Brandon, and four precious grandchildren William Curtis Lehr, Jr., Anna Kathryn Colbert Dwyer (Josh), Colbert Neal Lehr (Jenni), and Leah Grace Colbert as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Pall Bearers and Honorary Pall Bearers are Lois Ann's grandsons, son-in-law, and nephews.
The family would like to thank their dedicated sitters Raymelle McClendon, Helen Ford, Rodesta Tumblin, Dorothy Calvert, and Georgia Henderson.
