Pulliam, Lavern
- Houston Esther Lavern Brewer Nabors Pulliam, 88, passed away Saturday, October 31, 2015 at her home in Houston. She was born November 14, 1926 in Aberdeen, MS to Lonnie Brewer and Esther Wehrman Brewer.
Miss Lavern worked in the public for over sixty years. She was a friend to everyone she met. Her first priority was her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Family and friends came next. Her love for Mississippi State was well known and unquestioned. She was a lifelong resident of Trebloc, MS and a member of McCondy Methodist Church. It was here that she was pastored in such a special way by Rev. Steve and Judy Lampkin during her later years. She has been a mentor to countless people. Her love of work, whether it was outside the home or around her place, was unmatched.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 2, 2015 at 2:00 PM at McCondy Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Lampkin and Dr. Randy Rinehart officiating. Burial will follow at McCondy Baptist Cemetery.
Houston Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include daughter, Donna Nabors Love of Batesville; a special friend, Ricky Alford; son-in-law Glenn Willis of Houston; grandchildren, Clint (Rebecca) Pruett of Houston, Adam (Brooke) Willis of Marion, AR, Glenda (Chris) Burdine of Houston, Scott (Tina) Jolly of Shannon, Lee (Courtney) Love of Memphis, TN, Walt (Stephanie) Love of Houlka, Lindsey (Joel) Cosgrove of New Hope, and Caleb Nabors of Starkville; great-grandchildren, Kayla Pruett, Mollie Pruett, Braden Grove, Brandt Willis, Madeline Burdine, Walker Burdine, Blake Jolly, Meri-Claire Jolly, Virgil Love, Welby Love, Landon Love, Leena Walls, Diamond Walls, Dean Cosgrove and Ella Marie Cosgrove; great-greatgrandchildren, Avarie Rose Jolly; a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Samuel Jackson Nabors and Harold Pulliam; sisters, Elaine Maghee, Lottie Williams, and Dot Bowen; son, Sammy Nabors; and daughter, Sandra Willis.
Pallbearers are Barry Vanlandingham, Ronnie Vanlandingham, Russel Jolly, Joe Colbert, Jim Blissard, and Greg Cunningham.
Honorary Pallbearers are Clarence Davidson, Curtis Alford and Tommy Colbert.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 1, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Houston Funeral Home and Monday, November 2, 2015 from 1:00 to 2:00 service time at McCondy Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to McCondy Methodist Church or McCondy Baptist Cemetery Fund.
