Laura Emma Peden, age 92, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2023 at her home in Houlka. She was born Laura Emma Johnson on September 25, 1931 in Pontotoc County to Horace Greely and Lena Johnson. Laura was a member of First Methodist Church in Houlka, Ms. She worked for Franklin Corp for many years.

A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Houston Funeral Home with Bro. Patrick Collins officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 to start of service that day. Burial will follow at Wesley Chapel Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Donald Pogue, Jody Chancellor, Braxton Franks, Chase Franks, Curt Meyers and Kyle Meyers.

Laura is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Burrow of Byhalia, Dianne (Wilbur) Chancellor of Ackerman, Linda Franks of Houston, Lea (Jim) Meyers of Houlka; her grandchildren, Donald (Sonny) Pogue, Alicia Burrow, David Burrow, Jody (Shemila) Chancellor, Emmalee (Marquentin) Love, Ashley (Ryan) Mosley, Braxton (Haley) Franks, Chase Franks, Curt (Paige) Meyers, Kyle Meyers, Mallory (Hogan) Hamblin; her great-grandchildren, J.C. Burrow, Kinsley Burrow, Hunter (Morgan) Hogue, Elijah Chancellor, Keeghan Ashford, Caden Yarbrough, Kiyan Love, Chancen Mosely, Alena Mosley, Leighton Blair Franks, Griffin Franks, Klayton Hamblin, Peyton Hamblin, Cayden Box, Finley Meyers and McCord Meyers; one great great-grandchild, Marley Jane Pogue; her sister in law, Faye Johnson of Texas and a special friend, Florene Humphries.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Peden; her parents, Horace and Lena Johnson; her sister, Doris Williams; her brothers, Tom Johnson, Ray (Leverne) Johnson, Roy (Jo) Johnson, and Lynn Johnson.
