Nichols, Larry - Houston Larry Dennis Nichols, 75, died Saturday, August 16, 2014, at North MS Medical Center in Tupelo.
He was born April 15, 1939, in Houston to Buford E. Nichols and Beatrice McQuary Nichols. He was a heavy equipment operator and retired from the City of Houston where he held various jobs during his employment and from K-N-K. He was a retired 25 year member of the Army/National Guard, retiring as a Sergeant, a member of the American Legion, a Mason, and a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Woodland.
The funeral service will be Monday, August 18, at 10:00 AM at Houston Funeral Home in Houston with Rev. Wade Mathis officiating. Burial will follow with Masonic Rites at Houston Cemetery in Houston.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Penney Cox Nichols of Houston; his daughters, Kathy N. Ritter of DeKalb, Cammy N. and Jeff Laughlin of Houston, Courtney N. Galloway of Houlka; his grandchildren, Bobby Boydstun, Dennis Laughlin, Victoria Hughes, Thomas Ritter, Dalton Collums, Katherine Allen, Rebekah Crenshaw, and Brody Collums; his great-grandchildren, Eric Boydstun, Dylan Boydstun, Jaiden Laughlin, Molly Kate Laughlin, Avery Allen, Kaitlyn Boydstun; his sisters, Nyra Nichols-Ashley of Memphis, Dale Burrage of Memphis; his brothers, Conway and Ann Nichols of Houston, Kenneth and Rose Nichols of Houston, Nicky and Beth Nichols of Houston.
Pallbearers are Bobby Boydstun, Dennis Laughlin, Thomas Ritter, Dalton Collums, Brody Collums, and Todd Kilgore.
Visitation is Sunday, August 17, from 4- 6 PM at Houston Funeral Home.
