Penney Nichols, age 82, passed away Friday, May 24, 2024 at North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born July 31, 1941 in Memphis, TN to Paul Gerard Cox and Willie Maude Baird Cox. She was faithful member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic church in Houston. Penney worked for International Paper as a customer service rep until she retired.

A Funeral service will be held Sunday, May 26, 2024 at Houston Funeral Home at 4:00 PM with Rev. Dennis Laughlin officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM until the time of service. The family will have a private graveside. Houston Funeral Home is honored to serve the Nichols family.

She is survived by her daughters, Katherine (Mark Hendrix) Nichols of Dekalb, MS, Cammy (Jeff) Laughlin of Houston, MS and Courtney Nichols of Pontotoc, MS; her grandchildren Bobby Boydstun (Sabrina Malone), Victoria Ritter Hughes (Justin), Thomas Ritter, Dennis Laughlin (Jaimee), Katherine Laughlin Allen (Brian), Rebekah Laughlin Crenshaw (Justin), Dalton Collums (Morgan Self) and Brody Collums (Nikki); her great-grandchildren, Eric Boydstun (Autumn), Dylan Boydstun, Kaitlyn Boydstun, Lizzie Kate Hughes, Maria Hughes, Jaiden Laughlin, Molly Kate Laughlin, Avery Allen, Brady Allen, Elijah Crenshaw, Otto Crenshaw, Jeb Collums, Briley Collums, and Weston Collums; and her two great-great-grandchildren, Beckham Boydstun and Ella Boydstun.

Penney was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Nichols, her parents, Paul and Willie Cox, and a great-great granddaughter, Berkley Boydstun.

Penney was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother but she was also a great friend. She will be truly missed.
