June Joyce Turner passed from this life January 24, 2025. She was born on January 28, 1939, to Mack Roy Hinton and Verlie Elaine Blissard Hinton. She was a lifelong resident of Houlka, MS, and graduate of the class of 1957. She graduated from the W in 1961 and began a life of service to others. She worked one year for the Extension Service and taught Home Economics in Houlka and Houston for a total of 31 years. She retired from education and began her second career of taking care of her grandchildren and her mother. She was a member of Houlka First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years.
A Funeral Service will be held Monday, January 27, 2025, at Houlka First Baptist Church at 11:00 AM with Bro. David Blackwell and Rev. Aislinn Kopp officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, January 26, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Houlka Baptist Church and one hour before service. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery. Houston Funeral Home is honored to serve the Turner Family.
Serving as pallbearers are Carl Hinton Daniel, Colton Turner, Mack Daniel, Richard Huffman, Will Daniel, Gary Turner, John Robert Burrow, and Roger Warren.
She was married the love of her life, G.C. "Bubba" Turner Jr. on May 13, 1965, and he preceded her in death on July 9, 2003.
She is survived by her children, Melinda Kopp (Mike) and Christopher Turner (Carra) of Houlka, MS; her grandchildren, Aislinn Kopp (John Burrow) of Austin, TX, and Colton and Hannah Turner of Houlka, MS; her sisters, Betty Daniel (Carl) and Peggy Fitts (Richard) ; her sister in law, Cindy Morgan (Charles); her nieces and nephews, Carl Daniel (Dana), Wendy Huffman (Richard), John Ford, Larisa Ford, Rachael Carter (Chad) and Michelle Guyton (John); and her many great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mack and Verlie Hinton, her husband, G.C. "Bubba" Turner, Jr, her in laws, G.C. and Margaret Turner, and her sister-in-law Rebecca Ford.
She will always be remembered by her family as a loving, kind, and joyful person with a great sense of fun, but a great sense of dignity, too. Her students will remember a caring but firm teacher of life skills.
