Mrs. Judy Martin Stroup Washington, 76, passed away peacefully, Friday, August 8, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family. She was a loving wife, mother, and Nana and a longtime member of Friendship Baptist Church. Judy was a quiet, hardworking woman who inspired others with her strength
and love for God.

Judy is survived by her husband, James Washington, her children, Sharon (Darrin) Vance of Houston, MS, Jennifer (Riley) Nelson of Vicksburg, MS, Neal Washington of Houston, MS, and Wendy (Marvin) Griggs of Houston, MS; her sister, Helen (Gene) Johnson of Houston, MS; her grandchildren, Garett (McKinna Hanna) and Lillie Vance, Julia and Reid Nelson, Bentley Washington, Misty, Alivia, and Riley Kate Griggs.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Leon Stroup, and her parents, Eugene and Velma Weaver Martin; her brothers Thomas E. Martin and Wayne Martin; her sisters Bonnie Mae
Whitworth, Mary Emma Myers, Martha Ann Cozart, and Jo Ellen Free.

The family would like to thank North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice Care, especially her nurses Rosanna Brock, Karen Christensen, and Rosie Chandler.

Services will be Monday, August 11, 2025, with Houston Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be 10:00 to 12:00 at Houston Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 1:00 at Friendship Baptist Church, 213 County Road 39, Houston, MS, with Brother David Poyner and Brother Gladwin Carpenter officiating.

Pall bearers will be Garett Vance, Marty Brassfield, Marvin Griggs, Wayne Martin, Toby Johnson, Ronnie Free, and Bobby Moss.

Burial will be in Prospect Methodist Church Cemetery.
