Johnny Russel Bevels

Houston, MS – Johnny Russel Bevels, age 84, passed away June 1, 2025, at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point, MS. Johnny was born January 19, 1941 to John Vardaman Bevels and Retha Alice Tubbs Bevels. Johnny joined the Navy in 1958 where he was a seaman on the Bon Homme Richard Aircraft Carrier.

Johnny is survived by his wife, Reba Fae Chapman Bevels; his children, Retha Thomas (Mark) and Charles Bevels (Angelia); his grandchildren, Justan Vance (Emily), Kelli Burns (Chris) , Haley Johnson (Chad), Carley Preston (Justice), John Allen Bevels; his great-grandchildren, Justan Collin Vance, Jr., Everleigh Joy Vance, Ruthie Jane Burns and Alice Rene Burns; his brother, William Bevels (Lizzy); and his nieces and nephews.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, John and Retha Bevels; his son, Damon Bevels; and his siblings Samuel Bevels, Charles Bevels, Joe Bevels and Melinda Bevels.

There will be no memorial service for Mr. Bevels.
