John David "Woody" Woodruff, age 67, passed way Sunday, July 23, 2023 at his home in Houston, MS. David was born November 5, 1955 to John Robert and Jaynell Woodruff. David was a member of Houston First Baptist Church.

A Funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, July 30, 2023, at Houston First Baptist Church with Dr. Ronald Meeks and Bro. Steve Griffin officiating. Visitation will be from 1-3 the day of the service at Houston First Baptist Church. A private burial will follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be John Bradly Woodruff, Jonathan Kimble Woodruff, Kim Davis, Landon Griffin, Sean Griffin, and Matt Walters.

Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Brooks, Andy McDaniel and Kenny Adams of Houston, MS and Mike Wyatt and Mike Underwood of Union City, TN.

David attended school in Houston, Ms where he enjoyed playing sports. He was also a member of the Boy Scouts. David worked at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Union City, Tn for 30 years. After retirement he returned to Houston and continued his love for the Mississippi State Bulldogs and the St. Louis Cardinals. David was an avid turkey hunter and spent many hours hunting with his late uncle, Wayne Kimble.

David enjoyed gardening with his father, growing and sharing his vegetables. He also enjoyed playing dominos with his dad. His greatest joy was spending time with John Thomas and Eli. David's smile was contagious. He loved everyone and never spoke an unkind word about anyone. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

David is survived by his wife, Melissa Griffin Woodruff; two sons, John Bradly(Summer) Woodruff of Houston, MS and Jonathan Kimble (Finacee` Jess Mercier) Woodruff of Gainsville, FL and his two grandsons, John Thomas and Elijah James Woodruff of Houston, MS. His father, John Robert (Sara) Woodruff of Houston, MS. He was greatly loved by his sisters, Deborah (Tony) McCombs of Columbus, MS and Cindy (James) Watkins of Union City, TN. Jennifer Watkins, Stephen Watkins, Libby White, Heather Buse, Scott Stokes, Brian Stokes, Ciara Griffin, Scott Griffin, Landon Griffin and Sean Griffin were proud to call him Uncle David.

David was preceded in death by his mother, Jaynell Kimble Woodruff and his sister, Susan Lynn Stokes.

In lieu of Flowers donations may be made to the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
