Joan Morphis, age 86, passed away February 21, 2024 at Sanctuary Hospice. She was born January 22, 1938 to Ed and Virgie Luther. She was a member of Houlka First Baptist Church.

A Funeral service will be held, Friday, February 23, 2024 at Houlka First Baptist Church at 3 P.M. with Bro. Gary Blair officiating. Visitation will be from 2 P.M. until the time of service on Friday. Burial will be at Poplar Springs Cemetery in Calhoun County. Houston Funeral home is honored to serve the family.

Pallbearers will be Sid Burt, Seth Burt, Dillon Easley, Hayes Paden, Jack Jolly, and Jock Moore.

Joan was a kind, christian woman. She loved God and she loved her family. She always put her children and grandchildren before herself. She enjoyed working in the yard with her longtime and faithful friend, Glen Bray, and cooking Sunday dinner for her family. She always had a smile on her face. She was a wonderful mother, the best grandmother, and a great friend. She will truly be missed.

She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn (Gary) Linton and Jan (Burt) Easley both of Houlka, MS; her grandchildren, Sid (Brigit) Burt, Seth (Hanna) Burt, Blair (Jake) Jolly, Dillon (Kennedy) Easley; her great-grandchildren, Hayes Paden, Jack Jolly, Jace Irwin, Lylah Burt, Jorja Kate Jolly, Jett Burt and Hamp Easley; and her long time friend, Glen Bray.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Morphis, her parents, Ed and Virgie Luther, 2 brothers and 5 sisters.
