Jo Ann Pate
Houlka- Mrs. Jo Ann "JoJo" Hinton Pate,87, passed from her earthly home on April 30, 2021 at Pontotoc Health and Rehab in Pontotoc, MS. Mrs. Pate was born on July 3, 1933 to Troy Roscoe Hinton and Clara Viola Bryant Hinton. She was a lifelong resident of Chickasaw County. She was city clerk for the town of Houlka, where she retired after 35 years. Mrs. Jo Ann also was still working for Gary Turner at the Houlka/ Houston Water Association until December 2020. Mrs. Jo Ann Pate was a member of Houlka First Baptist Church.
She loved to visit with family and friends and was always ready to go shopping for shoes, go out to eat or attend gospel singings. She loved the First Baptist Church Young at Heart Group and going with her church group to Gatlinburg, TN. Thank you to all those that went on these trips for taking care of her and praising her, this is what she loved.
Visitation will be on Monday, May 3, 2021 at Houlka First Baptist Church in Houlka from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M.
Funeral services will be held on May 3, 2021 at 1:00 P.M at the Houlka First Baptist Church in Houlka with Rev. David Blackwell and Rev. Patrick Collins officiating.
Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Houlka, MS.
Pallbearers will be Skip Winter, Walker Winter, Carl Hinton Daniel, Bobby Hinton, Michael Luther, Ronnie Palmer, Mike Ford, and Gary Turner.
Honorary Pallbearer will be D.L. Winter.
Mrs. Pate is survived by her daughter, Pammie (Tim) Davidson of Houlka; her two grandchildren, Conner (Morgan) Davidson and Jarret Davidson; one great grandchild, Harper R. Davidson- who always put a smile on her face and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Pate is preceded in death by her parents, and her late husband, Roy E. Pate; her brothers, Mack Hinton, W.C. Hinton, Ray Hinton and Rock Hinton; and her sisters, Christine Winter, Kate Steele, Blanch Palmer, and Ruby Shempert.
