Willis, James - James Walker Willis, 89, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at his home in Houston, Mississippi. He was born November 17, 1927 in Munford, TN. to Christopher Columbus Willis and Eva Loft Willis. Mr. Willis was a building supply salesman with R. E. Dendy Lumber Company for forty three years. He was also a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Funeral Services will be Thursday March 16, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Sammy McMillen officiating.
Burial will be at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Woodland, MS.
Houston Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of seventy and half years, Mildred Charleen Lyles Willis of Houston, MS, one daughter, Elaine Willis (Robert) McKay of Montgomery, AL, one son, Charles Glenn Willis of Houston, MS, grandchildren, Wendy McKay (Kent) Brendle, Rob (Emily) McKay, Adam (Brooke) Willis, Glenda Willis (Chris) Burdine, and Clint (Rebecca)Pruett, and great-grandchildren, Gray Lyles Brendle, Cate Scott Brendle, Brooks Brendle, Will McKay, Britton McKay, Brandon Grove, Brandt Willis, Madeline Burdine, Walker Burdine, Kayla Pruett, and Mollie Pruett.
James is preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, Estelle Tate, Jeanette Chapman, Pauline Tate, Helen Joyner, Elizabeth McQuary, and two brothers, Maynard Willis and Paul Berkley Willis, and his daughter-in-law, Sandra N. Willis.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 16, 2017 from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. at Bethel Baptist Church.
