Anderson, Helen - Houston Helen Christine Massey Young Anderson, 73, passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at her home in Houston after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born June 18, 1942 in Bruce, MS to Forrest Winnon Massey and Sara Ester Corrine Bratton Massey. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Houston where she was a member of the Bethany Sunday School Class. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, fishing and cooking her famous Sunday Night Supper for her entire family. She especially loved spending time with all her grandchildren playing train dominos.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 15, 2015 at 3:00 PM at Houston Funeral Home in Houston with Rev. Al Gaspard officiating. Burial will follow at Chickasaw Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Houston.

Survivors include daughter, Joan (Rayburn) Young Parks of Houston, Rhonda (Robert) Young Edwards of Houston, Allison (Jeremy) Young Harrell of Houston, Amanda (Jason) Moorhead Brooks of Houston; stepdaughters, Darnell (Mike) Wise of New Albany and Karen Young of New Albany; sister, Geraldine (Billy Van) Clark of Bruce; grandchildren, Bobby Underwood, Jeremy Underwood, Chad Douglas Underwood, Matt Edwards , Anna Claire Edwards, Jackson Harrell, Makenzie Brooks, Ashton Harrell, Kendall Brooks, Markus (Christy) Wise, Laura Beth Mathis, Kristin Buskirk, Natalie Young, Eli Young; great-grandchildren, Auden Underwood, Braleah Underwood, Kari Wise, Erin Wise, Myka Wise and Carter Mathis; special friends Lilly Dale Evans, Virgie Davis and Arthur and Michelle Hilliard; special caregivers, Dianne McGlown, Cynthia Profit, Gentiva Home Heath, Gentiva Home Hospice and Dr. C. Michael Jones and staff.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Harold Hayes Young and Maurice Douglas Anderson; two sisters, Charlene (Terry) Anfinson and Betty Moorhead; stepson, Michael Douglas Anderson.
Pallbearers are Bobby Underwood, Jeremy Underwood, Chad Underwood, Arthur Hilliard, Matt Edwards, Ashton Harrell, Jackson Harrell, Humberto Salazar and Maynor Salazar.
Visitation will be Friday, January 15, 2015 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Houston Funeral Home in Houston.
