Dorothy Ann (Dot) Gann Wilson, 88, of Houston, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2026. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, devotion, kindness, and love that will continue through the generations.

Dot was born May 16, 1938, in Houston, Mississippi, to the late Durell Curby Gann and Lynette House Gann.

On May 25, 1957, Dot married Byron Lamar Wilson, who survives her. Together, they shared 69 years of marriage—a lifetime filled with love, family, friendship, hard work, laughter, and countless memories. Their life together was a testament to love, commitment, and devotion.

Dot was a faithful member of Enon Primitive Baptist Church. She also found great joy in creating a warm and loving home for her family. Homemaking was not simply something Dot did; it was one of the ways she expressed her love. She was an exceptionally talented seamstress, and her creativity could be seen throughout the beautiful home she made so welcoming to family and friends.

Dot and Byron also enjoyed many years of traveling the country in their RV, sharing adventures and making lasting memories with their RV friends. She treasured the friendships they made along the way and carried those relationships close to her heart.

Her love for her community was another meaningful part of her life. During her years in Aberdeen, Dot served on numerous civic projects and gave generously of her time and talents. In later years, she helped establish the Chickasaw County Heritage Museum in Houston, helping preserve the stories and heritage of the community she loved.

Perhaps one of Dot’s greatest gifts was her gift for friendship. She had a natural warmth that made people feel comfortable and welcome. She listened, she cared, and she took a genuine interest in the lives of others. She had a special way of making people feel that they mattered. For those fortunate enough to call her a friend, Dot’s kindness and affection will remain a treasured memory.

Above all, Dot loved her family. They were among the greatest joys of her life, and she treasured the time she spent with them. She leaves behind not only photographs and stories, but a lifetime of lessons about love, faith, generosity, family, and the importance of making others feel cared for.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Byron; her children, Kathy Wilson Malouf (George) and Byron Lamar Wilson, Jr. (Jenny); her grandchildren, Ann Marie Malouf Smythe (Will), George Malouf, Jr. (Tyler), Rachel Malouf Bowen (Steven), and Sydney Wilson; her great-grandchildren, Rick, Andrew, and Daniel Smythe, Trip and Mac Malouf, and James and Marie Bowen; her sister, Joyce Gann Naron; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Bethel Baptist Church in Woodland, Mississippi. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM at the church. Burial will follow immediately in the church cemetery. Officiating will be Brother Sammy McMillen and Elder Calvin Warren. Houston Funeral is honored to serve the Wilson Family.

The family wishes to express its deepest gratitude to Tammy Mixon, whose loving care of Dot went far beyond providing for her daily needs. Tammy offered companionship, kindness, patience, and genuine love, bringing comfort and peace to Dot and to those who loved her.

The family is also sincerely grateful to the staff of FernBrooke Personal Care Home and Gentiva Hospice for the compassion, dignity, and kindness they showed Dot and her family.

Dot lived a life rich in the things that matter most: faith, family, friendship, service, and love. She made a home where people felt welcome, a community where people felt valued, and a family that knew without question how deeply they were loved.

Her presence will be greatly missed, but the love she gave and the memories she created will remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
