Dorothy Ward, age 88, passed away in Calhoun City on August 15, 2024. She was born to Henry Newell Box and Bessie Bell Box on April 16, 1936 in Chickasaw County. She was a member of Woodland Baptist Church. Dorothy worked for Kellwood for 35 years and at Liberty Shoe Store for several years. After those jobs she became the door greeter at Walmart in Houston were she proudly retired after 17 years.

A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Houston Funeral Home at 10 AM with Bro Cameron O' Daniel officiating. Visitation will be from 9 AM until time of service. Burial will be at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Houston Funeral Home is honored to serve the Ward Family.

She is survived by her sister, Becky Finn; her nieces, Mildred (Bobby) Robinson of Houston, Ms, Emily (Richmond) Hubbard of Slate Springs, MS, Naomi (Brian) Rouse of Van Cleave, MS, Sherry (Jerry) Bennett of Van Cleave, MS; her nephews, Chris (Bridget) Finn of Amory, MS, Tim (Tricia) Finn of Houston, MS, Jack (Sherry) Buckingham of Jackson, TN, Vickey Huffman of Houston, MS, Charles (Roxanne) Beckham of Springfield, MI, and James (JoAnn) Beckham of Waynesboro, MS.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Bessie Box and her sisters, Mildred Beckham, Shelia Beckham, Elizabeth Huffman, Virginia Buckingham; her brothers, Jerry Box, Lee Vaughn Box, H.B. Box, and half-brother, James Murphree.
