Easley, Doris - Doris Bledsoe Easley, born November 24, 1923 in Fort Worth, Texas, and passed away February 23, 2016 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS. Preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Colonel Charles Delane Easley; father, Robert Henry Bledsoe; mother, Alma Lois Avinger Bledsoe; sister, Emily Bledsoe Dawson; and grandson, Matthew Ernest Easley. Mrs. Easley has been called home to be with the Lord and loved ones.
Survived by her sons, Robert Ernest Easley LTC U.S. Army retired, and wife, Teresa of Tupelo, Charles Delane Easley, Jr., and wife, Pamela of Caledonia, and William Keith Easley and wife, Claire of Coldwater; sister Bobbie Bledsoe Shafer of Beckinridge; Texas, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Mrs. Easley was a loving wife, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved the Lord and knew Him and was with Him and is now with Him in Heaven.
Doris and Charles Easley were married sixty-six years and traveled the world together while Colonel Easley was in the Army then the Air Force for over thirty years. During those years, Doris raised three sons and taught school. Mrs. Easley was a graduate of MUW where she obtained a specialist in education. Upon retiring from the Air Force, Colonel and Mrs. Easley settled in Houlka where Charlie became a farmer and Doris taught special education. Mrs. Easley was proud of the special children she taught and always referred to each of them as her kids . In Houlka, she found a new sister, Sue Easley. She met many close friends who she had great times with over the years. Mrs. Easley lived a long wonderful life. She was a blessing to all those that knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held at Houston Funeral Home in Houston, MS on Friday, February 26, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be at First Baptist Church in Houlka Saturday, February 27, 2016 from 1:00 PM until the funeral service at 2:00 PM. Rev. David Blackwell and Rev. Jimmy Henry will officiate. Burial will follow at Collums Cemetery between Houlka and Bruce, MS.
Houston Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers are Jason Nicholson, Joe Easley, Andy Ratliff, Robert Bobby Easley, Ryan Sewell, Jessie Davis, and James Burton Easley.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Bob Bethany and Dillon Easley.
