- Houlka David Franklin Wiggs, 86, passed away October 13, 2015 at his home in Houlka. He was born December 26, 1928 in Houlka to Jim Henry Wiggs and Lula Jane Smith Wiggs. He worked as a plant manager for Arkell Springs and Indianapolis Glove Factor He also work part time at Houlka Funeral Home and was an Alderman for the town of Houlka for thirty-seven years. David was a lay minster and deacon of the Houlka Church of God of Prophecy. He is also an Army Veteran having served in the Korean Conflict.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 16, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Houston Funeral Home in Houston with Rev. Mitchell Morphis and Margaret Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Houlka with military rights.
Houston Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his daughter, Shelia (Dennis) Walls of Houlka; son, David Wayne Wiggs of Sweetwater, TN; son-in-law, Paul Harrison, Sr. of Canton, GA; grandchildren, Wayne Wiggs, Michelle Wiggs, Davonne Wiggs, Mirissa Wiggs, Paul Harrison, Jr., James Harrison, Andy Harrison, Kevin Harrison, Lagen Fanelli, Jennifer Brents, Krystal Westmoreland and Scotty Walls; great-grandchildren, Dakota Brents, Dannah Brents, Jackson Brents, Skyla Johnson, Nathan Westmoreland, Khole Bailey, Adain Bailey, Mia Harrison, Adain Harrison, Suria Harrison, Amber Wiggs, Sophia Wiggs, Sylas Black, Diamond Walls and Aleena Walls; great-great-grandchildren, Liam Brents, Nathanial Westmoreland and Natalie Brown; and many nieces and nephews and great friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jeanette Harmon Wiggs; daughter, Theresa Gail Wiggs Harrison; sister, Ola Wiggs Higginbotham; brothers, John Henry Wiggs and James Detroit Wiggs.
Pallbearers are Wayne Wiggs, Paul Harrison, Jr., James Harrison, Andy Harrison, Kevin Harrison, Scotty Walls and Nathan Westmoreland.
Honorary pallbearers are the current Mayor of Houlka, Jimmy Kelly, former mayors of Houlka, current and former Aldermen of Houlka, and Mr. James M. Jimmy Hood, Jr.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 15, 2015 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM and Friday, October 16, 2015 before the 2:00 service at Houston Funeral Home in Houston.
