Houston- Coach Bruce Henry Franks, 63, beloved father, grandfather, uncle, coach, teacher, and friend died peacefully at North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice-Tupelo on March 27, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.

Bruce was born on March 9, 1955 in Greenville, MS to the late Lonnie and Frances Franks of Pontotoc, MS. He was a deacon and member of Parkway Baptist Church. He loved his family and the Lord with all his heart and it showed in everything he did.

Funeral Services will be Friday, March 30, 2018 at 2 P.M. at Parkway Baptist Church with Dr. Randy Rinehart and Brother Andy Parrish officiating.

Bruce Franks was a teacher and coach at Chickasaw Academy, Calhoun Academy, Willkerson County Christian Academy, and Houston High School for 28 plus years where he retired. After retiring from the public-school system, he continued his coaching career at Hebron Christian Schools. He believed that coaching and teaching young men and women was his calling. He would instill lifelong values and strived for his players and students to be better Christians and succeed in life. Throughout his coaching career, he had many accomplishments including: an outstanding record of over 1,400 wins in both girls and boys basketball; numerous Coach of the Year awards and a combined 6 state championships. He was the epitome of class and was respected by all his peers. His presence will be greatly missed, but his legacy will live on in all of the lives he has touched throughout his career.

Bruce was cherished and will be missed by Linda Franks, his wife of 37 years, and their two sons: Braxton (Haley) Franks and Chase Franks; one grandchild Leighton Blair Franks whom he adored from the day he laid eyes on her, two brothers and two sisters Mike (Cindy) Franks, Donna (Billy Joe) Cox, Patti (Dan) Shempert, all of Pontotoc and Mitch Franks of Bellingham, Washington.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Parkway Baptist Church in Houston, Mississippi from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.

Burial will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Houston, MS.

Houston Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers are: Randy Lepard, Carlos Smith, Charles Porter, Jim Meyers, Gerry Turner, Burt Easley, Wilbur Chancellor, Keith Jernigan and Frank Thomas.

Honorary Pallbearer will be Kent Gore.
