Obituary

Porter, Charles - Houston Elder Charles Lindbergh Preacher Porter Porter, 87, passed away Monday, August 10, 2015 at North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice in Tupelo. He was born January 8, 1928 in the Enon Community to John Robert Porter and Kitty Florence Brown Porter. He was a minister for 45 years and a farmer and cattleman all his life. He was a member of Enon Primitive Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be Thursday, August 13, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Enon Primitive Baptist Church in Houston with Elder Calvin Warren and Elder Houston Patrick officiating. Burial will follow at Enon Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Houston.
Houston Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Beth Jernigan Porter of Okolona; daughters, Cheryl Hays of Okolona and Jayne (Phil) Aycock of Troy; sisters, Harriet Nichols of Aberdeen, Christine (Jim Dick) Nelson of Houston, Venita Brown of Memphis, TN; one brother, Jimmy (Jean) Porter of Houston; Grandchildren, Romie (Amy) Hays, John (Amanda) Hays, Mary Beth (Ray) Stanford, and Ashley-Beth (Nate) Baker; and ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and four brothers and one sister.
Pallbearers are John Hays, Romie Hays, Randy Nichols, Robert Cliett, Russell Brown, and John A. Porter.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 12, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Houston Funeral Home and Thursday, August 13, 2015 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Enon Primitive Baptist Church.
