Charles E. Neal, born on April 29, 1938, was the beloved youngest child of Charlie and Della Neal. He shared a remarkable life with his high school sweetheart, Lillian Manuel, whom he married on Christmas day in 1957. Charles passed away peacefully on November 10, 2024, at home, with Lillian by his side, marking nearly 67 years of marriage.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, November 22, 2024 at 3 PM at Parkway Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 1:30 PM to time of service.
Charles dedicated many years to his work, starting at the soda fountain of Rexall Drug Store. He served as a foreman at Gulf States Ceramic Tile until its closure, after which he embarked on a career with the Mississippi Department of Transportation until his retirement. Not one to rest, he later became a bus driver for Houston Schools, a role he held until 2020. A devout member of Parkway Baptist Church in Houston, Charles was known for his commitment to his community and faith.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Delia Neal, his sister and brother-in-law Anice and Grady Foster, his brother and sister-in-law James and Rudell Neal, his daughter Cassie, and a granddaughter Sophie.
Charles is survived by his loving wife Lillian, his son Ronny and daughter-in-law Joyce, his daughter Melanie, and his cherished grandchildren Kass, Alexx, Kaitlynn Neal, and Josh Medders with his wife Tabitha. He also leaves behind his great-grandchildren Tyson, Lyza, Eli, Peyton, David, Emma, and Lane who will carry forward his legacy.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
