Scott, Betty Maud - Sparta- Betty Maud Pumphrey Scott, 90, passed away Monday, June 26, 2017, at her home in Sparta, MS where she lived since 1930. Mrs. Scott was born on April 1, 1927 in Chickasaw County, MS to Eddie Lee Pumphrey and Florence Cornelia Carter Pumphrey. She was a dairy farmer and a homemaker. Mrs. Scott was a Christian wife, mother, and grandmother.
Funeral Service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Houston Funeral Home with her grandson, W.L. Will Scott Jr; and granddaughter, Kristine Puckett officiating.
Burial will be at Arbor Grove Cemetery in Houston, MS.
Houston Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband of 70 years, J. B. Scott, Jr. of Sparta, MS, daughter, Carolyn Sue (Wade) Puckett of Wilson, AR; son, William L. Sonny (Icie) Scott of Sparta, MS; brother, Rufus L. (June) Pumphrey of Steens, MS; grandchildren, William L. Will Scott, Jr; Robert Harmon Scott, Joshua Floyd Scott, Kristine Puckett, Nathan Wade Puckett, and Kate Puckett Broach; great-grandchildren, Robert Scott, Carter Scott, James Scott, Joshua Adam Scott, Edward Lee Scott, Ashley Brooke Scott, Taylor Stephens, Madison Stephens, Daegon Wade Darling- Puckett, Ryker Brooks Darling- Puckett, and Galen Wade Broach.
Betty Scott is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, George Marion Pumphrey, E.L. Pumphrey, Jr. and an unnamed Infant brother, sisters: Lounez Hardin, Annie Laura Weed, Florence Houser, Delia Mae McDonald, and Ruth Hamby.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons: Joshua Floyd Scott, Robert Scott, James Scott, Lee Scott, Harmon Scott, Nathan Wade Puckett, Carter Scott, Joshua Adam Scott, and Taylor Stephens.
Visitation will be Saturday, July 1, 2017 from 9:30 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at Houston Funeral Home.
